Manon-Nour Tannous and Gaïdz Minassian
◇ 10 December 2026
In Beirut as in Damascus, the new powers face the challenge of rebuilding sovereign states capable of freeing themselves from militias, foreign interference and the dynamics of war that have profoundly destabilised the Levant. To better understand these challenges, the Boghossian Foundation welcomes academic Manon-Nour Tannous, who, in conversation with journalist Gaïdz Minassian of Le Monde, offers insights and avenues for reflection.
Manon-Nour Tannous, a political scientist specialising in Syria and international relations, is a professor of political science at Université Paris 8 and an associate researcher at the Collège de France. Her research focuses in particular on Franco-Syrian relations, the Syrian crisis and Western policies in the Middle East. She has published several books, including Chirac, Assad et les autres (2017) and La Syrie au-delà de la guerre (2022).
Gaïdz Minassian is a journalist for Le Monde and teaches at the Paris Institute of Political Studies.
