The 10th edition of the BANAD Festival promises to be exceptional, once again highlighting the Art Nouveau and Art Deco heritage of the Brussels-Capital Region.

The Villa Empain is part of the programme and opens its doors for an immersion into the heart of the 1930s.

During the day, activities are offered to audiences of all ages. Our expert guides reveal the fascinating history of this masterpiece of Art Deco architecture. A playful and educational tour, specially designed for children, invites them to observe architecture from a different perspective, encouraging learning, wonder and exploration of forms, decorative elements and materials.

Saturday evening, a jazz trio led by guitarist Thomas Maillet brings the spirit of the Roaring Twenties back to life. Discover the Villa Empain by night, enjoy a cocktail in the refined setting of the Bar du Baron, and let yourself be carried away by rhythms inspired by the New World. About Villa Empain

The Villa Empain is at once an essential meeting place of Brussels’ artistic and cultural life, and a remarkable testament to the Art Deco movement.

Built at the beginning of the 1930s by architect Michel Polak at the initiative of Baron Louis Empain, it has reflected the history of Brussel throughout its past lives as successively private house, museum, USSR Embassy, and headquarters of Luxembourg television channel RTL. Partially destroyed and vandalized, it was abandoned in a deplorable state at the beginning of the 1980s. The Boghossian Foundation acquired the Villa Empain in 2006 and began working on its restoration, a process which would take four years. This complex and delicate restoration project, carried out with meticulous respect for the building’s history, was crowned with the European Union’s Europa Nostra prize.
